21-day-fixIf you take a look at the fitness and dieting market today, you will be bombarded with numerous programs that promise you quick and easy results. Unfortunately, many of these programs are just passing trends, and they offer no real value. So how can you identify a valuable program that is worth your money?

Well, one program that has been on everyone’s list is the 21 Day Fix by Autumn Calabrese. This exercise and nutritional program promises to give you a ‘beach ready body’ in just 21 days. So does the program live up to its promise? That’s what I’m going to answer with this review.

At the end of this article, if you decide that the 21 Day Fix is right for you, i will present you with a link to get some awesome discounts and free bonuses right from the official website. Right? Let’s go!

The 21 Day Fix Fitness Program

21 Day Fix is composed of 6 workouts found on 2 separate DVDs. Each of these workouts lasts for 30 minutes and has been crafted to deliver a “massive calorie burn”. If you are afraid that the workouts are too challenging for your fitness level, or you have some back or knee issues then you can follow the modifier (her name is kate) to decrease the intensity of the workout.

workouts

DVDDuring week 1 and 2 you will have to do one workout per day, then for the last week, you can do the doubles (2 workouts daily e.g. Monday= Total Body Cardio Fix + Pilates Fix).

The workouts are very simple, inspiring, exciting and well crafted.

  1. Total Body Cardio Fix: Elevates your heart rate and increases your metabolism for optimum weight loss
  2. Upper Fix: Targets your shoulders, back, abs, and chest
  3. Lower Fix: Targets your calves, thighs, and butt
  4. Pilates Fix: Strengthens, elongates, and sculpts your core, and tightens your hips, thighs, and butt
  5. Cardio Fix: Takes your cardio routine to the next level; similar to Total Body Cardio Fix
  6. Yoga Fix: Relaxes and tones your muscles, while boosting flexibility

The 21 Day Fix Eating Plan

Containers21 Day Fix also consists of a nutritional program, which works using a system of portion control. Let me be clear, this nutritional program is NOT a DIET! It will not require you to count your calories. The portion control system is made up of color-coded containers and a Shakeology Shaker Cup, which will help you determine the perfect portions for all your meals: If it fits in the container then you can eat it!

  1. 8oz Green Container for vegetables
  2. 8oz Purple Container for fruits
  3. 6oz Red Container for proteins
  4. 5.3oz Yellow Container for carbohydrates
  5. 2.7oz Blue Container for healthy fats and cheeses
  6. Two 2oz Orange Containers for seeds and dressings
  7. Shakeology cup for mixing healthy protein drinks

Meal Plan Facts

  1. Before you delve into the nutritional plan, you need to calculate your target calories (amount of calories you will need to eat daily). This amount will be determined by your current weight.

To figure out your target calories, use the calculator below:

calories level

  1. Once you have calculated your target calories, you will use the containers table to identify how many of each container you will be allocated daily. You should fall into one of the 4 caloric ranges given below:

intake

  1. If your target calories are less than 1200 calories, then you will fall into the first range. If they are more than 2300 calories, then you will fall into the last range.
  2. To use the containers, simply fill them up with the food (from the list on the eating plan book) that corresponds to each color. How easy is that!
  3. What i love about the program is the portion control system which allows us to develop healthy eating habits without using restrictive methods.
  4. You can choose to have 3 main meals and 2-3 snacks daily, or 6 small meals every 2 hours. You have complete control over that.
  5. You can drink coconut milk, coconut water, almond milk, soy milk, and fruit juice 3 times a week. Each of these drinks is equivalent to one yellow container, so you need to dismiss it.
  6. You can drink a lot of water, and take tea and coffee in moderation
  7. If you have hunger pangs, then you can add a bonus green container because it’s less likely to overeat veggies.
  8. I get a lot of questions about Alcohol consumption, so, while you can drink alcohol 3 times a week (and dismiss a yellow container each time), it is recommend to avoid it because it can really alter the final result. So why don’t you give your body the chance to get some awesome results in just 21 days :)

21 Day Fix Review Conclusion

21 Day Fix is definitely one of the most inspiring programs on the market. It is incredibly simple, and the portion control system and 30 minute workouts will push you to get the body that you’ve been dreaming about. This fun and easy to follow program has definitely worked wonders for people of all fitness levels (see images), and it promises to deliver the same results for you.

The program comes with 30-Day Money Back Guarantee, that means if you are not happy with the program after you completely finish the 21 days you will still have time to send it back for a full refund. This clearly shows that the 21 Day Fix is the real deal.

Hello.there. I weight 160 pounds and nurse my.baby almost.every hour. Can I still follow this plan?

      |

Yes absolutely! Autumn recommends: drinking a lot of water to keep up your milk supply, you will also need more calories each day, so for that you will have to jump to the next higher caloric level. Your 160 lb weight puts you normally in the first level but while nursing you need to jump to the second level: 1500-1799.
      Hope that helps.

I’m so glad this was answered because I had the same exact question and weigh the same! Awesome, this gives me hope! One more question to add to this though, can I drink Shakeology while nursing and does it coincide with my prenatal vitamin or should I only take a DHA with it?

          TianaB35,
You can absolutely drink shakeology while nursing/pregnant! I’ve done it with all three of my little ones (currently ebf my youngest still;) it’s a great supplement in addition to the prenatal vitamin. If any doubt of course take a picture of the bag and it’s ingredients and show it to your dr. To ensure it’s safe for you. Hope this helps and continue nursing on!! from a fellow nursing momma who drinks shakeology daily :-)

      Hi Norma

I started using the program 2 months ago, and love it! I walk and hike a lot, and also found using the formula that my target calorie intake is just over 1500, which is the dividing point between how many containers to eat. Per my coach, her suggestion was on days that I do more intense exercise, follow the higher number of containers. On days I don’t, follow the lower number of containers. I hope that makes sense! It’s worked well for me….on 2 rounds, I lost 5 lbs and several inches, including 3.5 inches around my waist. I’m on round 3, which I need after the holidays :) And I’ve never been hungry on the plan. Good luck!

This is a review of the 21 Day Fix. I have never been into diets just thought if I made myself exercise regularly and eat right that I would keep control of my weight. Then life happened, I have three amazing children and am 40 years old. My challenges became time, money and to be honest commitment to eating healthy and not finishing what my children leave on their plates. My weight kept increasing even though I was going to the gym. When I got to158lbs a friend encouraged me to do this and in fact we did it together. I started in mid July and am now 136lbs! I have been in maintenance for 2 weeks and am loving it. I have bad knees and must say the modifications they offer in the exercises helped me a lot when I was having bad knee days. If you decide to do the challenge I highly recommend the Fixate recipe book and looking at recipes on Pinterest. One of the challenges I had was getting bored of the food but these two things (and my best friend in the program) helped me get through it.

    Hi Janet!
I just ordered the 21day fit program and I’m excited to get started. I am a 38 year old juvenile diabetic since I was 8 and I have defied all the odds and want to be around to watch my son grow up he’s 11. I have been 80lbs Or more over weight since 2005 and have struggled with my weight ever since. I hope this program can help with weight loss and glucose control. Your blog was the deciding factor in my decision.

Thanks for the insight and helpful suggestions.

I am curious how you are managing in this? I am also a juvenile diabetic from the age of 7 and will be 43@ the end of the month. Just wondering if you are seeing results and how it is helping your sugars.

      Thanks!

Over last 2 years I have gone from 265lbs. to where I am now at 152lbs. I tried every diet and work out possible and until I became ill, I could never lose it.

I had stomach and gallbladder issues and know that I no longer have my gallbladder I have a lot of trouble still with eating portions and taking in proper serving size. Whenever I take more than a couple of bites of anything I feel really full and pained.

I’m going to order this because though I have lost over 100lbs, I’m still looking to get down to at least 140 or size 6. And I have my mommy over hang belly, which I’m dying to be rid of.

      Hi
You need to have clearance from your doctor first, if he is ok then you should follow the modifier on most or all the exercises. Don’t forget also that everyone can benefit from the containers/eating plan. As of sweets, you have many options including chocolate but you need to give up a yellow carb container. Good luck

I am 35 years old. I have Hashimotos (low thyroid), walk my dog at least 2 miles every day weather permitting, and have a very active job as a bookstore receiving manager. I currently started wearing a FitBit Charge HR and some days it has my calorie intake at 2600 to 3000. This is to lose weight! I am so confused as to how much I should be eating to lose weight given my movement levels and lifting for 8 hours a day. Can you help?!

(My endocrinologist recommended the 21-day fix to me. She has already lost 3 inches.)

    Thanks,
    Rachel

      Hi Rachel,
I too have hasimotos. I am interested in starting this program. I have about 30 pounds to lose. Have you started the program yet? I tried going gluten, and dairy free this summer. I did not feel any different nor did I lose any weight. I am curious with your struggle with hasimotos.

      Thanks,
      Lauraa

And you eat just to keep going. I’m a comfort eater. I need something that fits my busy schedule. And something I’m gonna stick to. Not another failed diet. So hoping to here from you soon. There is a 7th column on the daily caloric intake chart, there is a picture of a spoon at the top of the chart on that call and there is a number for every level but no explanation as to what that number of servings is supposed to represent?

The number corresponds to oil or nut butter teaspoons allowed per day. Very helpful when craving occurs after dinner for example.

I am 58 years old, out of shape and look terrible. I just ordered this system. The calorie counter says for me to have 1146 calories, so I would eat based on 1200 calories? That seems like way too much food – is it going to make me gain weight instead of lose? 18 months ago I was a healthy 124 pounds but am now 136 after a cancer surgery. I want my body back!

      Hi Judy
Glad you made the decision to buy it. You fall into the lowest caloric level which is really not a lot of food. You are going to exercise daily and your body will need a lot of nutriments, everything in the program was carefully calculated to be safe, effective and enjoyable.
      Good luck.

      Hi Cindy
Yes of course the eating plan comes with an extensive list of foods separated by the color of the corresponding container. The restrictions in the 21 day fix are very minimal, that’s because a large group of foods are allowed without problem.
      Best Regards
